Amsterdam, Netherlands – June 2, 2025 – At this year’s Transport Logistic event in Munich, Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP, and Volvo Group and the leader in charging infrastructure for electric heavy-duty vehicles (eHDVs), will unveil its bold vision for smart, sustainable logistics in Europe. From electric freight corridors to Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and a new Booking Solution, Milence is showcasing how innovation in infrastructure is driving the shift toward zero-emission road transport.

Visitors can experience the miniature charging hub at the Milence booth, designed to demonstrate how Milence is recharging both trucks and drivers and building the backbone of a clean, efficient, and reliable logistics network.

“Europe’s road transport is undergoing a fundamental transformation, and the choices we make today will define its future,” said Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence.

A game changer for the future of road transport
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is the latest standard for ultra-high-power DC charging, specifically developed to support the rapid electrification of heavy-duty road transport. Capable of delivering up to 3.75 megawatts (3,750 kW), MCS reduces charging times by up to 90%, enabling electric trucks to charge in approximately 30 minutes.

The first MCS solution shown at the Milence booth and deployed at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Zwolle has undergone rigorous testing, operating at up to 1,440 kW (1,500 A, 1,000 V).

Operational today, growing tomorrow
Milence already operates 21 charging hubs across the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Italy and Spain. Among them, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges hosts one of Europe’s largest public eHDV hubs, with 20 CCS bays and 2 MCS bays live.

Revealing Europe’s first electric corridors
As part of its pan-European rollout, Milence is now powering some major electric freight corridors, starting with the 700 km Barcelona–Lyon route, enabled by charging hubs in Perpignan, Béziers, and Malataverne. Additional long-distance routes are already taking shape, including the one from Rennes, capital of Brittany in France to Zwolle in the Netherlands or Duisburg in Germany as well as from Stockholm to Gothenburg and Malmö.

By 2027, Milence will deploy 284 MCS charging points across 71 sites in 10 EU member states, in alignment with the EU’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF). This corridor-based approach ensures that reliable, high-power charging is available where freight flows are strongest—supporting the scale-up of zero-emission logistics across the continent.

Predictable charging with the Milence booking solution
Milence will present its new booking solution in Munich—a digital service currently in a piloting and development phase that empowers fleet managers and drivers to reserve charging slots at selected hubs. The solution will offer:

  • Guaranteed future availability: Make, update, or cancel bookings as needed
  • Real-time notifications: Stay informed throughout your route
  • Automated access: Streamlined entry at participating hubs

The booking solution will be available via the Milence Portal, a web-based application currently in development. Additionally, customers and solution providers can already access it through direct API integration. Milence is also working to integrate booking with eMSPs and other widely used industry platforms to ensure a seamless user experience. This booking solution is responding to a key market need and is designed to boost operational efficiency and predictability for logistics operators managing electric or mixed fleets profitably and is expected to be market ready by the end of 2025.

With our first electric corridors, the megawatt charging solution rolled out, and new booking solution, we are enabling a smarter, more reliable logistics ecosystem. The transformation is underway, and we’re proud to help power Europe’s path to zero-emission freight.” Anja van Niersen concluded.
