Milence announces new charging hub in Ödeshög, Sweden bridging key transport route between Stockholm and Malmö

Amsterdam, 25 April 2024 – Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP and Volvo Group, announces its second charging hub in Sweden, located in Ödeshög. Milence is committed to a fossil-free future for road transport. To achieve this, the company is rolling out the first large-scale public electric charging network across Europe for heavy duty vehicles and buses.

Strategically Placed for Optimal Accessibility

The new charging hub, is situated on a 10,000 sqm plot in Ödeshög, a prime location 260 km from Stockholm and 350 km from Malmö along the heavily trafficked E4 motorway. This hub is next to a number of important facilities and a new logistics center is under construction nearby, enhancing its strategic importance.

Due to its location, the hub will serve as a crucial link in electrifying the key route between Stockholm and Malmö.

Phased Development for Enhanced Service

The development of the Ödeshög charging hub will proceed in two phases:

  • Phase 1 will launch with 8 charging bays equipped with high-performance Combined Charging System (CCS) chargers, each capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power.
  • Phase 2 will expand the facility to 16 charging bays and is planned to incorporate Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology for faster and more reliable charging solutions.

Facilities for Driver Comfort and Convenience

The Ödeshög location will offer numerous amenities designed to improve the rest and recharge experience for drivers. These facilities will include a lounge, showers, and toilets, aiming to provide an optimal customer experience.

Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence, this second hub in the Nordics: “Sweden is in a driving seat in electric road transport, and with the new Ödeshög hub, Milence is proud to be a pioneer in connecting the nation’s key cities with sustainable energy solutions. This hub not only enhances our network but also solidifies the green corridor between Stockholm and Malmö, marking a significant step in our commitment to electrifying Sweden’s major transport routes.”
